Michael Platt, CIC, CRM

President & Chief Executive Officer

With a Finance Degree from DePaul University and extensive experience in leadership and sales, Michael Platt has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Risk Management Resources since 1990. He is responsible for overall agency and personnel management, defining and maintaining customer service criteria, and sales leadership. Michael Platt states his career objective as, “To maximize every opportunity for Risk Management Resources to achieve the growth and goals set forth by the organization.”

Charles Wilson, ARM

Vice President

Charles joined Risk Management Resources in February 1990 as an Account Executive. Having previously worked at Aon, Charles contributed a knowledge of both management and finance to Risk Management Resources. Through problem solving and building customer and vendor relationships, he has enhanced the agency’s ability to deliver services to its target markets.

Charles is the support person for the agency’s key customers and provides executive back up and leadership for all Major Accounts. In addition, Charles manages a book of business that he built from scratch over the course of the last sixteen years.

Otis Gilmore, CSFP

Benefits Consultant

A 28–year veteran of the insurance industry, Otis joined Risk Management Resources in April 2000 to expand services by offering customers the purchase of Employee Benefits programs and related financial services. Mr. Gilmore’s credits include attainment of the NASD Series 6,7,63, and 65 licenses in addition to the proper Illinois Property / Liability and Life & Health licenses. Otis has served as a City Commissioner to one of the area’s larger south suburban towns.

Otis’ responsibilities include designing and installing group insurance plans, analyzing a customers’ or prospects’ existing plans for efficiency, evaluation of the marketplace on an ongoing basis, financial planning for business executives, etc. This combination of experiences has served to allow the Agency to expand its revenue by cross selling to existing accounts and securing new customers from Mr. Gilmore’s prior travels.

Jerrold Leahy

Marketing & Account Executive

A 27–year veteran of the insurance industry, Jerry brings a significant contribution to providing risk management and insurance services to our customers. With degrees from both Western Illinois and Northwestern University, Jerry’s professional background includes claims adjusting (at both the consumer and management levels), the sale and servicing of commercial insurance (construction and manufacturing accounts).

Jerry provides a great deal of technical expertise to customers with his wide–range of knowledge of both the industry and services available to clients. As an Account Executive, Jerry is responsible for prospect and customer solicitation, the development of insurance submissions, and the ultimate sale to the customer. Jerry also acts as the technical servicing support person for the agency’s larger and more sophisticated customers.

Thomas F. Downey, CPCU

Risk Management Consultant

Tom has over thirty years of insurance brokerage experience providing risk management and insurance coverage placement solutions for a wide range of clients. His background includes new client development, primary client service and retention responsibility, formation of captive insurance companies, and implementation and administration of multiple member insurance programs.

Tom has long standing relationships in the domestic, London and European insurance company marketplace. He has been responsible for placing insurance coverage on behalf of multinational and foreign owned corporations, locally and internationally.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Marquette University, attended New York University Stern Graduate School of Business Continuing Education Program for Self Insurance and Captive Insurance Company Formation, and earned the American Institute Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.

Tom will assist us in our aggressive plan to expand our customer base in 2010 and to support our overall effort to service larger and more sophisticated Risk Management oriented consumers.

Joanna Tatarczany, CISR

Customer Services Director

Joanna joined Risk Management Resources in 2002 as a Customer Service Representative. Previously as an Office Manager Joanna developed skills that allowed her to assume leadership for the delivery of services to customers. Her friendly attitude and diligence in problem solving are invaluable assets to our customers.

Joanna takes leadership for identifying new products and services including an extensive undertaking of our effort to go real time in servicing customer inquiries. Joanna’s research lead to our purchase and installation of the “Intact” Customer Service System. Joanna has earned the CISR Professional Designation. Joanna also holds a State of Illinois Property/Casualty license.

Mallory Denise Platt

Customer Service Assistant

Mallory is a 2009 graduate of Valparaiso University with a Degree in Education. As a newcomer, her responsibilities include supporting the Customer Service Director in the delivery of services to our clients’ on a day-to-day basis, including Certificates of Insurance, Client Change Request Inquiries, and Special Projects for the Production Staff. She is also proficient in managing the various prospect solicitation and mailings to our target markets and providing feedback on the effectiveness of those efforts.

Mallory is scheduled to take the Illinois Insurance Licensing examination in October of 2010 and will assume direct customer service responsibility following successful matriculation.

Lauren Rieger

Support Staff

Lauren has assisted the Principal of Risk Management Resources with various responsibilities since the agency was founded. She is a proficient Assistant to all staff at the agency and performs a variety of functions including, but not limited to, invoicing, customer transaction assistance, billing, preparing certificates of insurance, document retention, etc.

Lauren provides efficiency in her duties allowing more time to service the needs of each customer.
